The Development of Modern Day Forensic Science

Forensic scientists use scientific principles to answer legal questions relating to a crime. In earlier times, criminals often escaped punishment because it was very difficult to come up with enough solid evidence to prove them guilty. Today, forensic science is a very sophisticated and technical practice, allowing law enforcement to use even the smallest pieces of evidence to track down criminals and bring justice upon them.
The American College of Forensic Examiners has put together an interactive timeline which documents the development of forensic science throughout history. It’s a fun way to see how forensic science has developed over the years. Who knew that the process of fingerprinting criminals was only introduced in 1906?
